The Australian beach is a quintessential part of growing up in Australia. For some though, stepping into the Australian waters seems like a death sentence. If you’re not swallowed by a shark, a rip might sweep you off to Vanuatu (not the worst place to end up). And if you survive both of those, a stray surfboard to the head is always fun!
This new piece, Swim Between the Flags is a playful collage (made from one of my own artworks on paper) that captures the humour, danger and nostalgia of Australian beach life.
